Project Features

The owner of this cozy 100-year-old bungalow contacted us with the intention to increase the living area of ​​the house. The existing layout no longer suited the modern requirements of a young family.

We completed a back and a second storey extension project and added about 2,400 feet of living space. An extension on the ground floor housed a new modern kitchen and living room. The second floor was completely given over to the nursery, library and the master bedroom.

The existing part of the house required some modifications. In order for the existing structure to meet the requirements of modern design, we increased the height of the ceilings in the basement using the underpinning method. We also raised the main floor ceilings by 2 feet to create an airy and spacious living room and kitchen. To withstand the weight of the second floor we stiffened the existing walls box. We also leveled all floors.

Custom home features

The construction was done on tight budget, but there was one item where the homeowners were ready to invest a fair amount: a high-end custom kitchen which was designed and manufactured by our supplier in Europe. It became the focal point and a true masterpiece of the new home. The kitchen does not have an island due to a narrow floorplans, but the role of the island has been successfully fulfilled by two peninsulas. They created a functional and ergonomic eating and conversation area. The shaker facades in soft cream color, first-class German hardware and stylish modern handles compliment the design.

This construction is a very good example of the seamless teamwork of the homeowners and our construction and office teams. This provided for shorter project duration and let us keeps moderate cost per square foot.
